My journey from an undergraduate institution steeped in history yet lacking in a journalism department to a career in media and entertainment never would have happened but for the kindness, mentoring and positivity of the late Bob Sheeran, William and Mary's longtime football radio color commentator. Like anyone, I owe much to many, but outside God and my immediate family, Bob, who passed away in February 2013, tops the list.

My earliest memories include listening to Larry Munson and Loran Smith broadcasting University of Georgia football on WSB radio. The opportunity to meet Loran and take part in a pregame show was a dream come true. Smith is the consummate Southern gentleman and a veritable encyclopedia of all things Bulldogs athletics. Go Dawgs!
